How to Clean Shutters & Blinds Without the Hassle

Shutters can brighten a space beautifully—when they’re clean. Follow this simple process depending on the current condition of the shutters to restore their shine safely and effectively.

Step 1: Assess the Surface Condition

Ask yourself:

  • Are the shutters lightly dusty or just in need of a refresh?

  • Is there visible grime or build-up on the surface?

  • Are there black marks or stubborn stains that won’t shift with water?

Choose your method based on the answers below.

For Well-Maintained or Lightly Soiled Shutters

Use:

Steps:

  1. Dampen your SHYN Ultimate Microfibre Cloth with clean water.

  2. Wipe over the shutters to remove dust, fingerprints, and light residue.

  3. Let the surface air dry — or if needed for a streak-free shine, wipe dry using the SHYN Drying Cloth.

 For Shutters with Moderate Grime

Use:

Steps:

  1. Wet the SHYN Magic Eraser / Magic Eraser Wipe and gently glide it over areas with grime, smudges, or built-up residue.

  2. Follow immediately with a damp SHYN Ultimate Microfibre Cloth to remove any leftover residue from the eraser.

  3. Allow to air dry, or use the SHYN Drying Cloth for a streak-free finish.

🧼 For Heavily Soiled or Built-Up Shutters

Use:

  • SHYN Degreaser diluted 50/50

  • 1 x SHYN Magic Eraser (wet)

  • 1 x SHYN Ultimate Microfibre Cloth (damp)

  • 1 x SHYN Drying Cloth

Steps:

  1. Lightly spray SHYN Degreaser onto the dirty surface.

  2. Gently wipe over the area with a wet Magic Eraser, using light pressure only.

  3. Wipe off any remaining product and grime with a damp Ultimate Microfibre Cloth.

  4. Finish by drying with your SHYN Drying Cloth for a sparkling, clean finish.

 Pro Tip

  • Always use gentle pressure—especially on glossy surfaces—to avoid micro-scratching.

  • Work in sections to ensure even cleaning and streak-free results.
