Timber Floor Guide
SHYN Method
Not all timber floors are the same - using the wrong method can cause permanent damage.
Follow the correct process based on your floor type.
STEP 1: Identify your timber
👉 Raw / Unsealed Timber
👉 Sealed / Coated Timber (floorboards, lacquered, polyurethane)
OPTION 1: RAW / UNSEALED TIMBER
🚫 What NOT to do:
- Do NOT wet mop
- Do NOT use cleaning products or chemicals
- Do NOT oversaturate the surface
👉 Too much moisture can cause warping, staining, and lifting.
What to do instead:
This is a maintenance-only surface - not designed for deep cleaning.
⚡ Method:
- Lightly damp a microfibre pad (almost dry)
- Attach to your Wall & Floor Tool
- Gently wipe over the surface 3 times per area
👉 This will lift dust and light debris only
OPTION 2: SEALED / COATED TIMBER
These floors can be cleaned - but must be done carefully to protect the coating.
DEEP CLEAN (if heavily dirty)
If your floors have visible buildup, grime, or dull patches:
👉 Follow the Textured Floor Method
⚠️ With these adjustments:
- Work in small sections only
- Do NOT let product sit on the surface
- Apply → agitate → remove immediately
👉 This prevents damage to the coating.
MAINTENANCE CLEAN (recommended)
Option 1: Water only
- Use hot water
- Use a damp (not wet) microfibre mop
Option 2: Timber-safe solution
Add Rubio Monocoat Soap
Designed specifically for timber maintenance
👉 Helps maintain the finish safely
