Floor Cleaning Made Simple Guide
Why do your floors still look dirty?
What type of floors do you have?
Option 1. Smooth Floors

👉 Smooth floors don’t need brushing or wiping; they need the right pad, with the correct cleaning solution.
Why this happens:
Smooth floors don't hold dirt - they hold residue, grease, and cleaning product buildup.
That's why people clean their floors over and over.... and they still look dirty.
👉 That’s why general mopping doesn't remove it, it's almost bonded to the sealer of the tile.
Tool:
👉 Magic Eraser 25cm
From build-up to brand new - without harsh scrubbing or guesswork.
What you'll use:
- SHYN Degreaser
- 2 Microfibre Mop Heads
- Magic Eraser 25 cm
- Magic Eraser Attachment
You'll need to purchase a standard mop pole & mop bucket from the SHYN SHOP instore or your local cleaning supermarket.
Option 2. Textured Floors

👉 Textured floors (grip tiles, crevices, outdoor tiles, rough surfaces) NOT GROUT
👉 Textured floors trap dirt deep in the crevice - that's why mopping alone fails.
Why does this happen?:
You need agitation to pull dirt out - not just gliding over the top of it.
Tool:
👉 Power Scrub Pad
What you'll use:
- SHYN Degreaser
- 2 Microfibre Mop Heads
- Power Scrub Pad

Option 3. ⚠️Timber & Specialty Surfaces
Not all floors can be cleaned the same way - some surfaces require a completely different approach.
Timber Floors
👉 Raw or unsealed timber:
These surfaces absorb moisture and product quickly - which can cause damage.
👉 What to do:
- Use a very lightly damp microfibre pad only
- No heavy water
- No cleaning products
👉 Why:
Wood is porous - once liquid soaks in, it can warp, stain, or lift.
Optional Tool (for safe maintenance)
👉 If you want an easier, safer way to maintain these surfaces:
- The Wall & Floor Tool with microfibre/rubber pads allows you to clean with minimal water and controlled pressure
- Designed to glide over delicate surfaces without damage
👉 Sealed / coated timber (floorboards):
You can clean these - but carefully.
👉 What to do:
- Use the same method as smooth floors
- Work in small sections
- Keep the mop damp, not wet (wring out properly)
👉 Why:
Too much product or water can break down the coating over time.
Polished Concrete
👉 This surface looks tough - but it’s actually lightly sealed and porous.
👉 What to do:
- Use the smooth floor method
- Work in small sections
- Don’t allow the product to sit on the surface for more than 20 seconds without agitating, then remove it straight away.
👉 Why:
The sealer absorbs product quickly, which can leave marks or dull patches if overused.
