How to Remove Surface Rust from Stainless Steel

To safely and effectively remove light surface rust from stainless steel, follow these steps:

  1. Apply SHYN Paste: Use a small amount of SHYN Paste directly on the affected area.

  2. Agitate Gently: With a soft cloth or sponge, gently agitate the paste following the same direction as the grain of the stainless steel. Avoid using circular motions and do not apply too much pressure, as this can damage the finish.

  3. Use Enough Product: Make sure there’s enough paste to lubricate the area while working – this helps prevent scratching.

  4. Remove Product: Wipe away the paste using the SHYN Ultimate Microfibre Cloth dampened with water.

  5. Dry Thoroughly: Finish by wiping the surface dry with the SHYN Drying Cloth to prevent new rust from forming.

  6. Test First: Always perform a small test patch in an inconspicuous area before treating the entire surface.

Note:
This method is suitable for both low-grade and high-grade stainless steel. However, low-grade stainless steel (often used in budget appliances) is more prone to rust and scratching, so be especially gentle and never skip the patch test.
